Qatar Airways has announced it is well on its course to become a full member of the global airline alliance ‘oneworld’ effective from October 30, 2013.
Qatar Airways, apart from offering plane tickets at competitive rates, would also provide full range of services and benefits that comes along with the oneworld membership.
The airline said that with effect from October 30, when Qatar Airways becomes the 13th full member of the oneworld, the members of the established oneworld airlines’ frequent flyer programs would be able to earn and redeem awards and tier status points. The customers would also be able to receive all other oneworld benefits, including lounge access, on Qatar Airways.
Apart from Qatar Airways, the other members of oneworld include American Airlines, Airberlin, S7 Airlines, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Qantas Airways, Malaysia Airlines, LAN Airlines, Japan Airlines, Iberia, Finnair, Cathay Pacific Airways, British Airways, and some 30 affiliated airlines.
With Qatar Airways becoming oneowrld member now, more than 20 of Qatar Airways destinations and five countries, including Ethiopia, Iran, Rwanda, Serbia and Tanzania, would be new destinations on the oneworld map.
