Qatar Airways now connects Doha and Montreal

Qatar Airways will be starting a new service between Doha and Montreal from June 2011. The airline will provide three time service through Boeing 777 aircraft. Then new step will make Qatar Airways the first Gulf airline to operate direct service to the Canadian City.

Since January, the Canadian travelers were required visas to enter the UAE owing to bitter relations and non-availability of Canadian slots to Emirates and Etihad Airways. The new step will now prove to be a boon for the Canadian-Gulf trade relations.

Although the step seems to be a significant one, yet Air Canada has shown some apprehensions on the global expansion of Gulf Airlines.

The management is also planning to increase its A380 orders from five in the near coming months. The airline has placed an order of 60, 787 aircrafts with Boeing. Though the delivery of Boeing 787 got late yet the airline is satisfied with the flights progress and is expecting to receive the first plane in December.

The first phase of New Doha International Airport, which is costing around the USD 14.5 billion, is due for completion by the end of 2012 and will have its own monorail running through the terminal.
