Getting to the Caribbean from Florida will now become much easier than before. Silver Airways recently announced it will be launching nonstop flights to Tampa from Nassau starting May this year. Media reports also said that Bahamasair is also planning to begin new service between Tampa and Nassau.
Tampa International Airport officials have though confirmed the launch of new service by Silver Airways, but at the same time said they have not yet heard about any such plans by Bahamasair. However, according to media reports the flights between Tampa and Nassau are likely to be launched by Bahamasair starting January 6, 2017. The service is likely to be conducted with the help of a ATR42-600 twin-turboprop aircraft twice weekly. The ATR42-600 aircraft has a capacity to seat around 40 to 50 passengers.
JetBlue Airways is also presently offering flights services from Tampa to Nassau with stopovers in cities like Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Atlanta and even Chicago. The airline is also conducting direct flights to Nassau from both Orlando and Fort Lauderdale as well. Among other important carriers offering connecting flights from Tampa to Nassau include United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines. Currently, no airline offer nonstop flights between Tampa and Nassau. Silver Airways will become the only airline to provide nonstop flights from Tampa to Nassau when the service becomes operational in May 2016.
Bahamasair is a low-cost carrier presently offering flights services to 32 destinations in the Bahamas, Florida, Cuba, the Turk and Caicos Islands and the Dominican Republic. The airline has so far not offered flights services from Tampa before. It is though conducting regular flights out of West Palm Beach, Orlando, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Bahamasair is yet to confirm about its plans whether it is going to launch flights services between Tampa and Nassau, and from when.
