Singapore Airlines to reintroduce premium economy cabins to Los Angeles and Newark flights

Singapore Airlines recently indicated it will be re-introducing a premium economy cabin to its all business class ultra long range Airbus A340-500 flights to Los Angeles and Newark. The airline has indicated the rising fuel prices as the main reason behind this move.

The airline in a statement said that its A345 services to Los Angeles and Newark are the longest running and largest exercises in a single standard of premium business class long haul flight.

The all-business class flights started in 2004. The airline will, however, be reverting it due to growing fuel costs. The airline says that it is suffering losses because of this and wants to offset them as far as possible.

The airline stated that its service to Newark has remained unchallenged as the world’s longest nonstop scheduled flight ever since it started 8 years ago. The flight is generally airborne for between 18-19.1 hours on a trip.

According to the airline, the flights are currently configured for 98 passengers. They fly on average more than 75 percent full, or at 100 percent capacity on the busiest days of the week.
