South African Airways/United Airlines cast off flights Baggage policy

South African Airways confirmed that its code-share partner United Airlines has reverted to their earlier baggage policy of letting two pieces be free of any charge if they weigh not more than 50lbs; on United States/Canada to South Africa route.

The changes are in full force now and would let travelers save some extra while changing onto the connecting flight (codeshare or interline). Passengers checking in with United for any connecting flight to South African Airways would not be charged the extra $70 for their second baggage piece.

The new baggage policy applies to all Economy class passengers flying from or to South Africa. United’s Baggage policy for Dakar and Senegal stays the same with free allowance of up to two pieces. Flights bound to Malawi, Zambia and Cameroon would offer one free piece on UA operated flights.
