Spirit Airlines adds more flights to Florida

Spirit Airlines has announced additional seasonal flights to Florida. These flights will be effective from December 18, 2014 and will cover two cities of Florida, Fort Myers and Tampa.

Spirit Airlines declared this news in front of thousands of people, who were gathered at the Westmoreland County Air Show. The airlines official said that the flights will commence from December. These flights will start from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Unity to two cities of Florida. The flights to Fort Myers will operate thrice weekly, while to Tampa the fights will operate four days per week.

Gabe Monzo, Westmoreland County Airport’s executive director, said he received number of requests for flights to Fort Myers. He is happy to provide such service and is willing to see how the service will work. Currently there are 19 flights per week flying at Unity airport and are carrying around 19,901 passengers. There were a total of 81,000 passengers who traveled through April this year. A total of 535,200 passengers traveled in Spirit Airlines from 2011.

Paul Berry, spokesman of Spirit Airlines, said the airline is always looking for means and new routes by which passengers can save their money during air journey. The discontinuation of flights from Dallas to Fort Worth after its six month tenure was sad. He is optimistic to start the flights to Florida. He further said the new flights will not use any further resources as Spirit Airlines seasonal flights to Myrtle Beach will end this November. He thinks this to be a great fit for providing the service to Florida. Year round service is already given by Spirit Airlines to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. He is happy to provide service to the people of Pennsylvania.
