Star Alliance to test its new standardized seats in economy class

Star Alliance, one of the most powerful airline groups in the world has announced that it is all set to test its new standardized economy seats. The group is gearing to put to test these seats in Beijing very soon. The airline group was established in the year 1997 and has since been offering smooth connections to travelers across the globe.

It is pertinent to mention that several airlines that have come together to form the Star Alliance group comprise economy seats that vary in size. Seats on United Airlines, Air New Zealand, and Lufthansa differ significantly and the group is aiming to bring uniformity to these seats. According to the group, its first motive for standardizing these seats is to augment passenger satisfaction. It further added that it also wishes that travelers flying with any one of its 27 members should contain seats of uniform width and other dimensions.

Air China, the flagship carrier of China has offered to conduct the research on these standardized seats. The airline has thus set up a special research area in Beijing Capital International Airport for these tests in the coming times. It will test these seats on at least 200 members of its PhoenixMiles frequent flyer program. German national carrier Lufthansa will also conduct some tests across Germany. It is noteworthy to mention that Lufthansa is one of the founding members of the Star Alliance Group. Other members include Air Canada, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Copa Airlines, Singapore Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, TAP Portugal, Thai Airways, and Turkish Airlines among others.
