Portugal’s national carrier TAP Portugal recently celebrated Portugal Day with the launch of new nonstop flights between Lisbon and Toronto. The new route will be served with five-time weekly service with the help of Airbus A330 aircraft offering fully-flat beds in business class cabins. The flights started operating from June 10, 2017. It may be noted that Portugal Day is celebrated world over by Portuguese people to remember national literary icon Luis do Camoes who died on this day in 1580.
A spokesperson of TAP Portugal while providing flight schedule details said that the flight will depart from Toronto Pearson International Airport at 11:55 pm and arrive in Lisbon Portela Airport at 12:15 pm next day. The return flight will make its departure from Lisbon at 12:30 pm and reaches Toronto at 4 pm. The addition of Toronto as a new route has come at a time when the airline reported incredible growth in 2016.
TAP Portugal has maintained steady growth in North America. The airline had only last year launched two new routes and added a new aircraft to the United States. TAP Portugal, which has been named “Best Airline in Europe” for 6 consecutive years, in a statement said that the growth in the number of passengers traveling from the U.S. has doubled last year. This is therefore a remarkable achievement for the airline. The airline also said that it is presently transporting nearly 12 million passengers annually.
Media reports said that the passengers booking business class tickets on TAP Portugal can look forward to savoring delectable cuisines. The airline has launched new “Taste the Stars” program in which a team of seven Michelin-starred Portuguese chefs would be designing new dishes to be offered on long-haul international routes starting from September this year.
TAP Portugal is presently offering convenient and seamless connections to Lisbon through four major U.S. gateways in New York JFK, Miami, Boston and Newark Liberty. The airline is also serving 46 destinations in Europe from Toronto via Lisbon.
