Turkish Airlines ordered 15 more Boeing 737 aircrafts

Turkish Airlines has made an order of 15 more Boeing 737 Max aircraft on June 16, 2014. The previous order of 50 changed to 65 with this add-on.

Through this order Turkish Airlines has added to its last order of 20 Next Generation 737 aircraft and 50 Boeing 737 Max aircraft. The airline has made more than 100 orders for Boeing aircraft after this addition. Also, the carrier has orders for 200 777-300ER jets.

The 737 Max is the latest version of the jetliner, while 737 Next Generation is another model in the 727 family.  The 737 Max is more economical in terms of fuel efficiency. It features aerodynamic modifications together with new engines. The aerodynamic changes include the provision of split wingtips that help in reducing drag. This makes the aircraft perform much better than its previous models.

One of the competitors of this airline, Southwest Airlines will also put 737 Max aircraft to service from 2017. The 737 model is famous in cheap fare carriers including RyanAir and Southwest. This model has two engines with single aisle.

Also, Turkish Airlines has recently announced to increase flights to Malaga. This announcement was made in a regional road show organized by the airline. The show was for travel agents in Qatar with Malaga-Costa del Sol and The Andalusia Tourist Board.

Mehmed Kursad Caymaz, general manager Turkish Airlines, said that southern Spain is one of the important tourist destinations of Qatar in summer season. The combined effort from us and tourism authorities will showcase destinations like Malaga’s beautiful offering. As part of our growth strategy, we are working closely with our travel agents to increase our passenger traffic. Our travel agents so far have been an important and constitutional part of passenger growth.

The carrier will increase three more flights during summer thereby making a total of 10 flights per week. The flights will operate between Istanbul and Malaga. This special service will run from August 4 to August 29, 2014.
