United Airlines to launch SFO-Shanghai B787-9 flights July 2

United Airlines recently announced that it is postponing the scheduled flights to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) by another two months.

The airline had originally planned to launch its daily Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner service in early May this year. However, the airline encountered slot issues at Shanghai Pudong airport thus leading to the debut of new service only from July 2, 2015.

United Airlines had earlier applied to the U.S. Department of Transportation seeking to postpone the scheduled launch by another two weeks in order that it readies to introduce its second Boeing 787-9 service between the two cities starting from July 15 this year.

The airline while providing details about the new service said that the outbound Flight UA891 will make its departure from San Francisco at 1505 hrs and reach Shanghai Pudong at 1900 hrs the next day. The return Flight UA890 will depart from Shanghai Pudong at 2100 hrs and arrive in San Francisco at 1800 hrs the same day. The new service will be complementing the airline’s flights UA857/858 on San Francisco-Shanghai Pudong route.

Meanwhile, United Airlines has indicated that it will be launching new seasonal flights on two new routes next summer. These include Chicago-Dublin and New York-Venice routes. The flights on both the routes will start operating from June 4, 2016. The airline also said that it will be introducing a second flight between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Washington D.C., to be operated daily.

According to the airline, the new flights services to Paris, Dublin and Venice will be complementing United Airlines’ existing services to France, Ireland and Italy. These will also be offering the customers with flexible and convenient travel options for summer travel.
