United Airlines to scrap first class on its fleet of Boeing 757 aircrafts

United Airlines recently announced it will be undertaking an extensive overhaul of its ‘Premium Service’ (PS) flights being operated between the east and west coasts of the United States.

The airline in a statement said that it will be dropping its first class flights from the PS fleet of Boeing 757 aircrafts during the overhaul. The airline currently operates the Boeing 757 aircrafts ferrying business travelers between New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The airline is due to begin the revamp exercise in October this year and would be completing it by mid-2013. The airline stated that all floors, walls, seats, galleys, lavatories and bins would be replaced during the revamp in order that there is feeling of brand new planes being pressed into service.

The airline disclosed that the worn-out business class recliners would be upgraded to lie-flat seats. The number of Economy Plus seats would also be slashed from the current 72 to only 48. The airline also disclosed that it will be introducing Economy Class on its Premium Service flights.
