United Airlines to send Denver-Oakland flights from June 4

The air tickets for flights between Denver International Airport and Oakland on United Airlines will not be available for sale from June onwards. The airline recently announced it has decided to permanently stop its flight services between these two cities from June 4, 2012.

By ending the service, United Airlines will discontinue 11 weekly flights on Denver-Oakland route.

Oakland is one of three major San Francisco Bay Area airports. The other two airports in the region include San Francisco International Airport and Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport.

The airline said in a statement that it will continue to offer nonstop services to Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport and San Francisco International Airport.

The Chicago-based United Airlines has been offering flight services to Oakland for the past 75 years. The airline disclosed that the main reason behind discontinuing flight services between Denver and Oakland is that it is not able to make enough money on flights from that city.

Southwest Airlines currently operates nonstop flights between Denver International Airport and Oakland. However, another Denver-based carrier Frontier Airlines doesn’t serve Oakland.
