US Airways launching Charlotte-Sao Paulo flights in May

US Airways recently announced it will be launching its flights services between Charlotte and Sao Paulo. The daily nonstop flights to Sao Paulo from the airline’s largest hub at Charlotte would be launched from May 2013.

The airline in a statement said that this would be US Airways’ only flight between Charlotte and Sao Paulo. The airline said that Sao Paulo would be its second destination in South America.

Apart from launching flights to Sao Paulo, US Airways is currently operating direct flights services to Rio de Janeiro.

According to the airline, there are 142 direct flights being operated to/from Charlotte by five different carriers from 11 destinations in the United States. However, there is no carrier, except US Airways, to operate flights to Sao Paulo from Charlotte.

Apart from US Airways, Sao Paulo is being served from Washington Dulles, Chicago O’Hare, Houston and Newark Liberty International Airport by United Airlines. Among other carriers operating flights to Sao Paulo from U.S. cities include American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, TAM Airlines and Korean Air.
