A new cabin class has been recently launched by Virgin Australia after it was formally launched in the market for sale earlier this year. The airline has introduced newly designed Economy X cabins throughout its fleet. The new cabins would offer customers comfortable and luxurious travel experience.
John Thomas, Group Executive of Virgin Australia, said, “We value our customers and want to them to travel in luxury. The moment Economy X cabins were launched in the market for sale, we couldn’t stop ourselves and decided to introduce the new economy class product across the entire fleet. We expect that Economy X cabins will be well received and booked by our customers.”
Media reports said that Virgin Australia has reconfigured economy class cabin on most of its Boeing 737 fleet, particularly the first three rows. With the new changes in place, extra legroom will be provided in at least one in five seats. The major highlights of Economy X cabin includes minimum 3 inches extra legroom, priority security screening, priority boarding and preferred overhead locker space. The Economy Space+ would be replaced with Economy X cabin on short-haul international flights. The feature would also include priority check-in as well wherever available.
However, Economy X cabins come with added features on long-haul international flights. Virgin Australia in a statement said that it would be replacing Economy Space+ with Economy X cabins on long-haul routes. Among major facilities to be offered here include extra legroom, premium noise-canceling headset, guaranteed first meal choice, premium boarding, premium check-in and preferred overhead locker space. The member of Velocity Frequent Flyer Platinum program would be offered access to Economy X cabins without paying extra fee. This would be also available when traveling to domestic destinations or short-haul international routes. Their companions would also be eligible when traveling on the same booking.
