Volaris offers new international flight to Reno-Tahoe

Reno-Tahoe International Airport marked a major milestone on December 16, 2014. It received its first international flight in last 15 years. Volaris Air introduced a new nonstop flight service between Reno and Guadalajara, Mexico this day.

The customary water canon salute was given at Reno-Tahoe International Airport to the inaugural flight operated from Guadalajara. The airline is offering twice weekly service between the two cities and will operate on every Tuesdays and Fridays.

174-seat Airbus 320 will serve this route. Flight will depart from Guadalajara at 1130 hours and arrive in Reno at 1350 hours. Return flight will leave Reno at 1520 hours and arrive in Guadalajara at 2055 hours the same day. The airline has received great response from travelers and the flight is already going 90 to 95% full.

Our international flight to Reno will boost the economy of the city, bringing nearly $20 million in to the region every year.

The service has been possible after a lot of hard work put in by the tourism department, casinos and ski resorts, local hotels and Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority. The hotel industry of Reno has clubbed together and offered room deals for the new international passengers. Next year in December 2016, Thomas Cook Airlines will also start offering its direct service to Reno from London, bringing the total of international flights to Reno-Tahoe to two.
