Cheap Flights to New York City

Mar 05, 2012

Most travelers think of buses or walking when it comes to a city tour, but many are excited to find that New York City offers cruises as well. Purchase cheap tickets to a sight-seeing cruise of the city when you purchase airline tickets online. Though each tour company offers their own route, familiarize yourself with the type of cruise tours available and what you can see from the New York Harbor.

Statue of Liberty Tours
One of the most popular stops for sight-seeing cruises in New York City is the Statue of Liberty. Flights to New York City often bring travelers itching to see the gift from France that made its way into New York in 1885. Boat tours will often circle this national monument so that you can get a camera-view of the skyscrapers and flashy metropolis of New York as it hosts as a background to the statue. Make sure you bring your walking shoes, since Statue of Liberty boat tours make a stop on Liberty Island and give visitors the chance to walk around the statue grounds.

Brooklyn Bridge
Another famous attraction for sight-seeing cruises is the Brooklyn Bridge. Built in 1883, tourists on cheap flights from all over the country make a point of seeing one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States.

Ground Zero
Though the towers are no longer in place, sight-seeing tours are able to see Ground Zero from the water. Tourists on cheap tickets to New York City often come to see the site where the new memorial will be unveiled September 11, 2011 as part of the 10-year anniversary of the tragic World Trade Center event. See Ground Zero for yourself from the ocean, but make sure to get off the boat and do a walking tour of the memorial grounds.

The Empire State Building
Built during the Great Depression, the Empire State Building offers 103 floors and over 6,500 windows to see the city from. See the Empire State Building from the New York Harbor or get off the boat and take a tour all the way to the top deck for a traditional view of the New York metropolis.

Types of Travel
Though a cruise is done by boat, some tours take it to the next level. After taking modern-day flights to New York City, travel pirate style in a real pirate ship, the Clipper Ship. Take a fast-paced cruise on a modern-day speedboat known as “the Beast” or even hit the seas on one of the many sailboats that offer sight-seeing cruises in the New York Harbor.
