Cheap Flights to San Francisco
Mar 05, 2012
With so many cheap flights in and out of the San Francisco area, you can plan a solo or family vacation just about any time of the year. Before booking airline tickets, consider some of these helpful vacation planner tips and ideas for the San Francisco area.
What the City is Like
Sure tourists have seen pictures of San Francisco, but a picture does not captivate the beauty within the city. With flights coming in daily, there is a reason many of the passengers on those flights are return guests -- the city’s ornate beauty, endless attractions, favorable weather and budget-friendly fun. With hills of housing and shops facing directly toward a calm bay, you can rest assured that no matter where you stay in the city, you will find a cool ocean breeze in the air. One thing to remember, however, is San Francisco is a busy metropolis with cheap flights coming in constantly throughout the day, which means weekends lead to large crowds within the city itself.
Best Time to Visit
When looking at airline tickets to San Francisco for vacation, you may be curious when the best time to visit is. April through October offers the best climate, clearest skies and limited amount of rain within the city. With cheap flights to San Francisco offered throughout the summer, expect a larger crowd at local attractions and beaches if you visit from May to end of August. Thanksgiving and Christmas, however, offer the least amount of crowds and often cheap tickets compared to summer.
What to See
Though there are flights to San Francisco daily, some visitors are only in the city for a day or two. If this is the case for you, you will want to make the most of your stay. For those in the city for just a day, make sure to ride a cable car and visit Union Square, Chinatown, Fisherman’s Wharf or Pier 39. For those in town for an entire weekend, find cheap tickets for a bay cruise, which will take you along the Golden Gate Bridge. While booking airline tickets, consider renting a car to take the 49-mile tour road that runs throughout the city and over to the Redwoods just across the bridge. For those with a few days in San Francisco, book a boat tour along with cheap flights to Alcatraz Island. With tours offered daily, tourists can see the famous island and walk through what once was one of the most feared prisons in the country.
