Ethiopian Airline has now become the first African carrier to receive its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The airline received its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos on August 25, 2012 amidst fanfare and celebration.
Tagged to be “Africa’s First Dreamliner”, the plane owned and operated by Ethiopian Airline will be accommodating 270 passengers on each flight.
Solomon Bagshaw, Acting General Manager of Ethiopian Airline, said that the airline’s first Dreamliner arrived in Nigeria because the country happens to be among the largest and biggest markets, and it is here that the airline got the maximum passengers as well as patronage in the past 52 years.
Apart from Ethiopian Airline, the other two carriers currently operating Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts include Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways.
