JetBlue Airways contract with Rochester Airport ends this year

JetBlue Airways’ contract with the Rochester Airport is due to end this year. The airline is still unclear whether it will continue operating flights or go in for service expansion here.

However, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is positive and hopeful that JetBlue Airways will listen to his pleas to expand service and help in lowering airfares to new destinations, particularly Las Vegas, Chicago and Boston, from Rochester Airport.

Schumer extended his request after he recently met with Dave Barger, CEO of JetBlue Airways.

JetBlue Airways has also shown keen interest and is currently studying the potential service expansion to Rochester.

Schumer says that JetBlue Airways flights to Las Vegas, Chicago and Boston from Rochester would be of great benefit to the people. He said that JetBlue flight reservations to these three cities would be great for job development, business, tourism, and a boon for the entire Rochester region.

Schumer also said that there is high demand of vacationers heading to Las Vegas as well as business travelers heading to Chicago or west coast destinations, and JetBlue Airways can efficiently fulfill these demands.

Currently, Rochester and Las Vegas are not connected by nonstop flights.
