JetBlue Airways eyeing flight services to Worcester

JetBlue Airways flights to Worcester might become a possibility if one goes by what Dave Barger, President and CEO of JetBlue Airways, has indicated in his tweet on Twitter just before MassPort held its monthly meeting in Worcester.

Media reports quoting a tweet from Barger suggested that JetBlue Airways has set its eyes on the struggling Worcester Regional Airport.

Tamara Young, Manager Corporate Communications for JetBlue Airways, without referring to Barger’s tweet said that the airline is currently evaluating a number of potential new cities to being its flight services, but declined to disclose the names of the cities at the moment.

Richard Walsh, Spokesman for MassPort (Worcester Regional Airport), said that Barger had indeed visited the airport early April. He said that the airport routinely invites airline representatives to visit the facility.

According to Walsh, other airlines had visited the airport in the past and more visits are expected in the future. He said that meetings with different airlines would be held on a regular basis until something positive doesn’t emanate for the airport.
