JetBlue Airways seasonal Boston-Nantucket flights from May 17

JetBlue Airways recently announced that it is planning to start seasonal daily flights to Nantucket from Boston. The launch of new seasonal flights will put the airline into direct competition with its partner Cape Air.

Despite introducing seasonal Boston-Nantucket flights, JetBlue Airways has decided to continue with its partnership with Cape Air.

Cape Air also operates year-round flights between Nantucket Memorial Airport and Boston's Logan International Airport.

John Checketts, JetBlue Airway’s Director of Route Planning, said that the new flights will offer flexibility for travelers. The new flights will also be complementary to the airline’s relationship with Cape Air. The passengers will have the flexibility to take JetBlue Airways flights one direction and Cape Air the other.

The passengers will get an opportunity to make JetBlue flight reservations for the new Nantucket service, which starts from May 17 and runs through September 4, 2012.

The airline will deploy a 100-seat Embraer 190 jetliner on the route. Nantucket will be JetBlue Airway’s 45th nonstop destination from Logan.
