JetBlue Airways showing interest in social-seating trend

Passengers booking JetBlue Airways flights might also get something to experience new in future. The airline recently indicated that it is open to embracing the social-seating trend and might do so after giving a serious thought over the issue.

A number of airlines are adopting the new ‘social seating’ concept, where the passengers get to know about their fellow travelers and make their own choice with whom to be seated with during their trip.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Malaysia Airlines in January this year provided their passengers a great opportunity to share photos, social networking profiles, and also allowing them to pick their seatmates prior to takeoff through the new social-seating concept adopted by them.

The passengers get hooked on to social networking platforms like Facebook or Linkedin to know beforehand the profiles of their fellow travelers and make their own choice with whom to be seated prior to boarding their flights.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has named its voluntary social seating plan “Meet and Seat”, which are available on flights between Amsterdam and New York and San Francisco and Sao Paulo. Malaysia Airlines social seating plan is also voluntary, and it is known as “MHbuddy”.  

Besides JetBlue Airways, other carriers like American Airlines and Delta Air Lines are also showing keen interest in the social-seating trend.
