New rules may affect Spirit Airlines flights to Myrtle Beach
Feb 08, 2012
Spirit Airlines flights to Myrtle Beach, a famous tourist destination in the United States, are likely to be impacted, aviation experts have contended. According to media reports, Spirit Airlines flights carried more than half of all passengers in and out of the Myrtle Beach International Airport in 2011.
These fears have arisen after new rules by U.S. Department of Transportation came into effect beginning this month. Aviation experts citing new rules contend that this could greatly impact Grand Strand tourism.
The new rules mandate that all airlines, including Spirit Airlines, must now advertise the true price of air tickets, including all fees and taxes. Besides, there are other rules that have not been taken kindly by airlines and have been strongly contested.
Spirit Airlines has been known to prominently advertise extremely low fares on its website. However, the new rules promulgated by USDOT says that all airlines must adhere to the new price quoting regulations, which has put Spirit Airlines into discomfiture and cast a shadow over its future prospects at Myrtle Beach.
With the new rules in vogue now, the airlines will not be able to charge steep fees while advertising extremely low fares.
