Spirit Airlines announces October passenger traffic results

Spirit Airlines recently announced its preliminary traffic results for the month of October 2012 and was quite upbeat at the outcome.

The airline in a statement said that Spirit Airlines flights put up a commendable performance during October this year. The airline further said that the sale of Spirit Airlines flights tickets was also strong.

Providing details about its operational results, the airline said that its passenger traffic (which is measured in revenue passenger miles) grew 25.4 percent in October this year as compared to the same month in 2011. The growth in passenger traffic was on a capacity (which is measured in available seat miles) increase of 26.4 percent.

Spirit Airlines further stated that its load factor for October this year was 87.3 percent, a decline of 0.7 points as compared to the same month last year. The airline’s preliminary completion factor was 97.6 percent for October 2012.

The airline was also greatly affected by the Hurricane Sandy in October this year and had to cancel 136 flights.
