Spirit Airlines announces Q3 2012 financial results, revenue up 18.6 percent

Spirit Airlines flights have performance remarkably well, according to the recently announced financial results for the third quarter of 2012.

The airline in a statement said that it total operating revenue for Q3 this year was $342.3 million. The airline disclosed that its operating revenue increased 18.6 percent or $53.6 million, as compared to the same period last year on a capacity increase of 22.7 percent.

The airline further said that its total RASM (revenue per available seat mile) for the third quarter was 11.52 cents, down 3.4 percent, as compared to the same period in 2011. This was due to lower factor as well as operating yields.

Spirit Airlines also revealed that its PFS (passenger flight segment) volume increased 23.2 percent y-o-y in Q3 this year with total revenue of 121.65 per PFS.

According to the airline, it ended its third quarter of 2012 with a total of 42 aircrafts in its fleet. The airline hopes to add two new Airbus A320 aircrafts in its fleet in the fourth quarter this year. By the end of 2012, the airline would be having a total of 44 aircrafts in its fleet.
