Spirit Airlines launching daily nonstop flights to Dallas-Fort Worth from New Orleans next year

There will be new Spirit Airlines flights to Dallas-Fort Worth from New Orleans starting from early next year. The airline recently announced it will start operating a daily nonstop flight to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport from New Orleans’ Louis Armstrong International Airport starting from January 24, 2013.

Spirit Airlines said in a statement that it will later on expanding the frequencies between Dallas-Fort Worth and New Orleans to twice daily flights from June 2013.

Michael Pewther, Senior Sales Director of Spirit Airlines, said that the flights between the two cities are part of its strategy for a six-city push to boost its traffic to Dallas-Fort Worth.

Apart from New Orleans, the airline will also be operating flights services to Philadelphia, Latrobe/Pittsburgh, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Fort Myers. It is also planning to begin flights to Los Cabos, Mexico, and has applied for its approval.

Spirit Airlines will be the first carrier in two years to include New Orleans to its flight network. New Orleans is already being served by Frontier Airlines and Air Canada since 2010.
