Spirit Airlines new online fee to book roundtrip domestic flights

Spirit Airlines recently announced new online fee for booking a roundtrip flight. Under the new provisions, the passengers will now be required to pay about US$34 when booking online a roundtrip flight.

The Florida-based airline is the only carrier in the United States that makes its passengers pay for carry-on luggage.

Spirit Airlines had earlier this month increased the ‘passenger usage fee’ from US$8.99 for one-way domestic flights to US$16.99. However, the fee for international flights decreased to US$16.99 from US$18.99. 

The carry-on fees being charged by the airline ranges from US$20 to US$40. Besides, the airline charges US$30 to US$90 for checked bags, which though depends on the number. For overweight bags, the airline charges between US$25 and US$100, depending on how heavy they are.

However, Spirit Airlines US$9 fare club members avail the benefit of paying the lowest luggage fee. The members have to pay US$60 a year to continue in the fare club.

Spirit Airlines is renowned as the ultra low-budget carrier in the US offering fares as low as US$9 each way.
