Spirit Airlines Q2 revenue increases by 25.5 percent

Spirit Airlines recently announced its operational results for the second quarter of 2012. The positive outcome made the airline quite euphoric and optimistic.

The airline in a statement said that the strong sale of Spirit Airlines flights tickets helped it earn significant profits in Q2 2012.

Providing details about its results, the airline stated that its total operating revenue stood at $346.3 million, an increase of 25.5 percent to $70.4 million, as compared to the second quarter of 2011. This was on a capacity increase of 16.5 percent.

According to Spirit Airlines, its total RASM (revenue per available seat mile) increased 7.7 percent as compared to the same period last year. The airline’s total operating yields grew 9.1 percent y-o-y.

The airline further stated that its PFS (passenger flight segment) volume increased 18.8 percent y-o-y in Q2 2012. The total revenue per PFS was $132.53, up 5.7 percent as compared to the same duration in 2011.
