Spirit Airlines report increase in passenger traffic for August

Spirit Airlines flights showed a remarkable growth in the month of August this year. The airline recently announced its operational results for August 2012 and was quite optimistic at the outcome.

The airline in a statement said that there had been an increase in its passenger traffic and the good sale of Spirit Airlines flights tickets helped the airline increase its revenue passenger miles.

According to the airline, its revenue grew in August this year despite the effects of devastating Hurricane Isaac as well as a federal excise tax in Q3 2011.

The airline stated that its revenue passenger miles for August 2012 grew 18.9 percent as compared to the same month last year on a capacity increase of 20.5 percent. The airline’s load factor for August this year also declined 1.2 percentage points to 86.5 percent.

In early September this year, Spirit Airlines announced it would be launching twice daily nonstop flights between Baltimore and Fort Lauderdale. Apart from this, the airline would also be starting daily nonstop flights to Dallas-Fort Worth.
