Spirit Airlines passenger traffic results for August 2011 announced

Spirit Airlines recently announced its passenger traffic results for August 2011. The airline said that its traffic (in terms of revenue passenger miles) has increased to 15.8% in August this year as compared to an increase of 13.1% during the same month last year.

The airline also reported that its load factor was 87.7%, up 2.1 points, in August 2011 as compared to the same month in 2010.

The airline also said that it suffered losses because of the adverse weather conditions caused by Hurricane Irene. The airline had to cancel 122 flights  in August 2011due to the hurricane.
