Athens to run for a social cause in November

Athens is an old Greek city, which is renowned for preserving its cultural heritage. Today, the modern and the old, co-exhibit in the capital city. The city plays hosts to numerous events round the year that attract tourists from different corners of the world. One such event is the Lung Cancer 5K run & 1Mile Walk.

The sixth edition of this social event is scheduled at Sandy Creek Park on November 16, 2013. Travelers who are ever ready to stand up for social causes and offer their undying support can book cheap flights to Athens ahead of time and save on travel. This popular event aims at spreading awareness about the killer disease and at the same time raise funds to help the cause. The organizers aspire to raise funds for essential research programs devoted to doubling the number of lung cancer survivors by 2022.

The event is divided into different segments comprising the 5K run, 1-Mile Walk, and a rally followed by an awards ceremony. Awards will be presented to overall top male and female finishers in the 5K run. The top three male and female winners in the following age categories-10 and under, 11to14, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70+ will also be awarded. Participants who confirm their registration online or through the mail will get the event T-shirts.
