American Airlines to serve DFW-Shanghai route with Dreamliner

American Airlines has recently announced it will be deploying its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to serve Dallas/Fort Worth-Shanghai route. The services will become operational effective June 26, 2015. This will be the third route to be served with a Dreamliner by Dallas/Fort Worth-based carrier.

American Airlines indicated that it will initially operate its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) starting from May 7 this year. The airline wants to ensure that its crew members first of all get accustomed to flying the new superjumbo.

According to the airline, the second route to be served by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft will be between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) beginning June 2. The airline further said that Buenos Aires will be its third route to be served by the Dreamliner from Dallas/Fort Worth starting from June 4 this year.

American Airlines said that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts it had ordered are being received at a slower rate than originally planned and expected. The airline said that there had been some issues regarding the installation of the new lie-flat seats. The airline, however, said that these are being resolved fast and it now expects to receive the new aircrafts soon.

The airline in a statement said that its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft will be configured with a total of 226 seats. Those booking business class flights to Shanghai from Dallas/Fort Worth will be offered 28 lie-flat seats in business class cabins. The airline also stated that it will be offering 150 main cabin seats and 48 main cabin extra seats. American Airlines has placed orders for 42 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts with a further option to buy an additional 58 aircrafts.
