British Airways has introduced to launch transatlantic fare on several selected routes. Though the pricing as well as the precise routes are yet not confirmed, the airlines has stated that the fare will provide only the hand baggage to the passengers and will not comprise seat selection.
The carrier will launch the new basic economy fare in April 2018 with its joint business partners namely Iberia, American and Finnair on several selected routes. In a statement, British Airways stated, ‘the recent launched fare will entitle the flyers to pay less and make add-on choices.’ On Iberia, British Airways and American Airlines, it would be named ‘Basic’ whereas on Finnair, it is referred to as ‘Light’.
It has been announced that the unbundled fare would be applicable on selected routes flying between Europe and North America with facilities comprising IFE, inflight meals, blankets and headphones.
British Airways stated in a release that the newly introduced fare would facilitate the passengers to personalize the travel by paying only for the elements they need. The pricing and the routes information would be provided when the fares go live.
Other airlines which have initiated to launch HBO fares on transatlantic routes are namely Alitalia, Air France KLM, and Aer Lingus.
