Emirates introduces mobile boarding pass service for customers

The Middle East’s leading carrier Emirates has introduced a boarding pass service via mobile for its customers. With the launch of the service, the customers will now have the option of receiving a mobile boarding pass on their internet-enabled mobile device, thus providing them a stress-free, paperless travel experience.

According to the airline, the service will be available to all passengers using the online check-in facility out of Dubai up to 24 hours in advance. For such passengers, the airline will be sending a web-link to their mobile boarding pass by email or SMS, which will display a barcoded boarding pass on their internet-enable phone.

The use of mobile boarding passes is expected to save a minimum of 550 kg of paper in the first year of implementation.

Besides Dubai, over 30 other mobile boarding pass complaint airports have been identified for implementation across the Emirates network. According to the new facility, the mobile boarding pass can be scanned and directly read at all check-in counters, airport security checkpoints, Dubai immigration, Emirates First Class and Business Class lounges, and boarding gates.
