Lufthansa cancel flights due to Frankfurt airport strike

Germany’s flag carrier Lufthansa was recently forced to cancel several of its last minute flights, scheduled for arrivals and departures out of Frankfurt International Airport. The airline had to scrap 200 of the 720 arrivals and departures scheduled inside Europe due to a strike by airport’s ground-control staff that began February 16. The strike will continue till February 22.

The airline had to cancel air tickets of several of its passengers scheduled to take flights to various destinations within Europe.

Lufthansa is unable to give flight deals to its passengers now as most of its flights remain grounded due to ongoing strike. The airline had to cancel 250 0f 580 medium-haul and domestic operations on February 17.

The 200 strikers at Frankfurt airport are vehemently protesting plans to outsource ground-control jobs. The strikers are seeking a revised accord that genuinely addresses their wages problems as well, along with ground-control jobs outsourcing issues. The strikers will continue their action until 5 am on February 22.
