Norwegian launching flights to Boston and New York from Dublin

Norwegian has recently announced it will be launching transatlantic flights from four Irish airports. Norway’s low-cost carrier said that it would start operating flights to key U.S. cities from Dublin, Cork and Shannon.

Media reports said that the flights services being launched to Boston and New York would begin operations effective from July 1, 2017. The airline would be offering 12 flights per week to New York and Boston from Dublin. According to the reports, the flights to New York will be conducted daily, while flights to Boston would be operated five times per week.

The reports quoting a spokesperson of Norwegian further said that flights to Boston and New York from Shannon will also be launched. Both destinations will be served with four times per week flights. Moreover, the airline will also be introducing thrice weekly flights services between Cork and Boston.

It may be noted that the Dublin-Boston, Dublin-New York, Shannon-Boston, Shannon-New York and Cork-Boston routes will be served with the help of the new Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts. The airline said that flights from Dublin and Shannon will be arriving at New York’s Stewart International Airport in Orange Country and Boston’s T.F. Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island.

Norwegian in a statement said that the small regional airports in New York and Boston are being used for lowering the costs as far as possible. The airline at the same time also said that it has decided to serve these destinations utilizing its new Boeing 737 MAX aircrafts as they are quite affordable and cheaper to purchase and operate in comparison to the sophisticated and expensive Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts being presently used for flights services to major airports in the United States. The two regional airports are cost-effective in the sense that they would be charging minimum ground handling fees and would also be less congested when compared to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Boston’s Logan International Airport.
