Scandinavian Airlines or SAS recently indicated that it will be launching two nonstop flights services between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Stockhom’s Arlanda Airport during SXSW 2018 festival. These two special flights will be operated only on March 8 and March 12 next year with the help of an Airbus A330 aircraft configured with a total of 262 seats – 174 Economy Class seats, 56 Plus Class seats and 32 Business Class seats. The fans planning to participate in the SXSW festival would be able to benefit from these special flights.
The first flight is scheduled to depart on March 8. The departure from Stockholm will be at 9:20 am and arrival in Austin at 1 pm same day. The return flight will make its departure on same day from Austin at 3 pm and arrives in Stockholm at 8:20 am next day. The second flight will depart on March 12 from Stockholm at 1:50 pm and arrival in Austin will be at 6:40 pm. The return flight will make its departure on same day from Austin at 8:40 pm and lands in Stockholm at 1 pm next day.
It may be noted that the SXSW festival of music, interactive and film industries had last year witnessed the participation of more than 400,000 people in Austin. Max Knagge, General Manager for SAS Americas, said, “The SXSW festival has generated huge interest amongst the people from all the countries in the Scandinavian region. The additional nonstop, roundtrip flights being operated by SAS would enable the fans to reach Austin conveniently.”
Meanwhile, in yet another development recently SAS has announced it will be offering free flights for kids wanting to travel to Europe from United States. A spokesperson of Scandinavian Airlines said that the base fare will be free for kids aged up to 11 years accompanied with an adult when traveling. The airline will however be charging fees and taxes. The travel period will be between November 1, 2017 and May 31, 2018 from any of the U.S. gateways on the airline’s network such as San Francisco, Washington D.C., Miami, New York City and Boston.
