Shanghai Airlines into codeshare pact with Delta Air Lines

Shanghai Airlines and Delta Air Lines have recently announced their new codeshare partnership. The move will benefit both the carriers greatly. Media reports said that with the codeshare pact firmly in place Delta Air Lines will begin relocating its flight operations from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) starting from April 13.

This is being done to fulfill the conditions of its codeshare partners Shanghai Airlines and China Eastern Airlines. The agreement is a part of broader strategy of Delta Air Lines aimed at collaborating and expanding its flights services in China.

Delta Air Lines’ relocation of its operations to Terminal 1 will enable the customers with seamless and convenient connections being offered by all the three carriers, including China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines. This will also help Delta customers gain access to China Eastern Airlines’ newly-built 4,000 square-foot SkyTeam Lounge, which will be unveiled in late 2015. Apart from this, the customers will also get various SkyTeam Elite benefits as well, which includes preferred seats, priority boarding and priority check-in.
 
The codeshare pact will enable Delta Air Lines to place its flight code on at least 11 flights operated by Shanghai Airlines in domestic routes within China. This will also provide Delta customers booking trans-Pacific flights access to many cities in China beyond Shanghai. The customers traveling from Chinese cities will also be able to buy a single ticket for travel to the United States and beyond as a consolidated itinerary.
 
The codeshare agreement will now allow Delta Air Lines to provide connections to about 30 destinations beyond Shanghai including Nanjing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou along with its partners Shanghai Airlines and China Eastern Airlines.
