Taipei 101: True example of magnificence blended with innovation

Taipei is a city in China. Located on the banks of River Tamsui, the city attracts millions of travelers each year. Many travelers fly to the city for business. What is Taipei 101?

Located in the Xinyi District neighborhood of the city, this structure had set a record in the books, as the world’s tallest. It held on to this title between the period 2004 and 2010. However, Burj Khalifa, Dubai in the year 2010 best Taipei 101 as the world’s tallest building. Today it has achieved another unique feather in its cap and is known as the world’s tallest and largest green building!

Brief history
The popular C.Y. Lee & partners in collaboration with KTRT Joint Ventures designed Taipei 101. The construction ended in the 2004 and with it, the building achieved an exclusive milestone for itself. It comprises 106 floors of, which five floors are underground while the rest 101 floors are above ground. The building was created to as a mark of respect for the ever-evolving technology and the Asian might and traditions. The building is constructed such that it can withstand catastrophes including earthquakes, and typhoons.

The management
This mega structure is the property of TFCC. It is managed by the Chicago based Urban Retail Properties Corporation. This mammoth building houses multi-level shopping mall, which in turn comprises various clubs, restaurants, and retail outlets.

Fact file
Taipei 101 beat Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur as the world’s tallest building before Burj Khalifa eventually clinched the title. The structure is 508 meters tall, from ground to roof. It also consists of the tallest sundial and it boasts of the largest countdown clock. Interestingly, it was the world’s first structure to surpass half-kilometer milestone in height. A visit to this magnificent piece of art and innovation is worth it in the city!
