United Airlines to use B787-9 on six new routes from Houston

United Airlines recently announced it will introduce its Boeing 787-9 aircraft to operate flights on six new routes from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport: (IAH) starting this summer.

Media reports said that the leading U.S. carrier has decided to unveil six new routes with the launch of flights to Frankfurt, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo Narita and Amsterdam. The flights on these routes will be operated from Houston.

United Airlines will launch flights to Rio de Janeiro from Houston effective from August 18, 2015. The route is being served by Continental Airlines, a merger partner of United Airlines. The flights on the route are being operated with the help of a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

The airline indicated that it will start operating new flights to Frankfurt from Houston starting from September 24, 2015. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft being currently operated on the route will be replaced by Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The airline will also be launching new flights to Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile on October 25, 2015 and January 5, 2016 respectively. The Boeing 767-300ER aircrafts being flown on both the routes will be replaced by Boeing 787-9 aircrafts.

The airline also said that new flights to Amsterdam and Tokyo Narita will start operations from December 17, 2015 and March 3, 2016 respectively. The airline will also be replacing the Boeing 777-200ER aircrafts being operated on both the routes with Boeing 787-9 aircrafts.

United Airlines had earlier announced in April this year that it will be purchasing ten Boeing 787 Dreamliners and ten larger Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts in the coming years.
