US Airways to fly to three new cities from Philadelphia

US Airways has announced its decision to commence flights to three new destinations from Philadelphia. The commercial airline, which recently completed its merger with American Airlines, is all set to launch service from US Airways to fly to three new cities from the Pennsylvania city. The new cities that will decorate its itinerary include Memphis in Tennessee, Lexington in Kentucky, and Charleston in West Virginia.

Beginning June 2014, travelers will be able to book plane tickets to Memphis International Airport (MEM), Blue Grass Airport (LEX), and Yeager Airport (CRW) from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Post this launch, both the merged airlines will together offer flights to 127 cities across 25 countries from the city of Philadelphia. This in itself is a huge achievement.

The airline will offer once daily service to Charleston except Saturday. US Airways Express will use the services of its local collaborator Piedmont Airlines to fly this route. Bombardier DHC-8 will fly passengers to their destination. On the other hand, Air Wisconsin, the regional partner of US Airways Express will use Bombardier CRJ200 to fly passengers to Lexington. Likewise, Air Wisconsin will operate the Memphis route for the airline with Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft.

Established in the year 1937, the airline flies to about 193 destinations worldwide. Prior to its merger, it was headquartered in Tempe in the state of Arizona. It will now operate out of Fort Worth in Texas. At present, it is a member of Star Alliance Group. It however, will join Oneworld alliance from March 31, 2014.
