WestJet Airlines and Korean Air into new codeshare partnership

WestJet Airlines recently announced it has entered into new codeshare partnership with South Korea’s flag carrier Korean Air.

Under the newly-signed codeshare agreement, Korean Air customers will be allowed seamless and convenient transfer onto more than 70 WestJet Airlines flights.

The airline has already put on sale WestJet Airlines flights tickets, which are now available to passengers starting from May 31, 2012.

The codeshare pact will allow Korean Air to place its code on WestJet Airlines-operated flights on North American routes. Similarly, WestJet Airlines will also be able to place its code on flights operated by Korean Air. By placing their respective codes, both the carriers will be able to market each other’s flights.

John MacLeod, Vice-President of Network Management and Alliances for WestJet Airlines, expressed his delight over the codeshare partnership of the airline with South Korea’s largest carrier Korean Air. He said that these partnerships with various carriers help WestJet Airlines to draw more traffic into its network and significantly boost its revenues.

Currently, WestJet Airlines has codeshare partnerships with Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
