WestJet Airlines suspending Calgary flights in May

WestJet Airlines recently announced it will be canceling flights to and from Calgary for a few days in early May this year.

WestJet Airlines flights to/from Calgary are being canceled for few days in early May due to renovation work at the main runway at the regional airport.

The airline in a statement said that most of the runway needs to be strengthened, repaved and rebuilt as the main runway is decaying in older sections, showing depressions and cracks and providing a rough ride.

The airline disclosed that reconstruction of 1.6 km of runway will be start from April 16 and completes in late May.

Passengers who booked WestJet Airlines flights tickets during this period have been rerouted. WestJet Airlines flights will not operate at the airport between May 1 and May 12.

Airport officials say disruptions at the airport will be minimized, and reconstruction work will be carried out round the clock and work completed at the earliest.
