Direct flights to U.S. from Bristol Airport likely by next summer

The travelers to the United States from the UK stand to benefit with direct flights services likely to be launched from Bristol Airport again by next summer. Bristol Airport officials said that negotiations are currently underway and a deal might possibly be finalized soon thus enabling the travelers from Bristol and from across the south west to once again fly directly to the U.S.

Earlier, Continental Airlines operated daily flights to New York from Bristol between 2005 and 2010. The services were however permanently stopped when the airline decided not to operate out of the airport.
 
The airport has now been expanded and a new terminal is being built. This has raised hopes of transatlantic flights resuming operations by 2016. Currently, travelers from Bristol have to get connecting flights from either Dublin or Amsterdam to travel to the United States.

Bristol Airport was founded in 1930 and has since been offering direct flights services to more than 100 destinations around the world. Major airlines operating out of the airport include Aer Lingus, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Ryanair and EasyJet.

Aer Lingus is presently offering twice daily flights to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) from Dublin Airport (DUB). For traveling to New York, travelers are required to first catch a flight to Dublin from Bristol Airport.

By choosing to fly with Aer Lingus to the U.S. via Dublin, the customers stand to benefit greatly from U.S. customs and immigration pre-clearance facilities being provided at the Dublin Airport itself.
