Fly with Atlantic Airways

Atlantic Airways is the flagship carrier of the Faroe Islands. Founded in 1987, the airline initially came into being after an agreement between the Faroese government and the Danish carrier Cimber Air. The Faroese government then held a 51 percent stake in the airline, while Cimber Air owned a 49 percent stake. However, the government accepted the total possession of Atlantic Airways in 1989. The airline is presently headquartered in Vágar and provides scheduled international flight services as well as domestic helicopter services from its main hub at Vágar Airport. Atlantic Airways commenced its first flight between Copenhagen and Vágar starting from 28th March 1988. The airline operated the service with the help of a British Aerospace BAe 146 aircraft. Currently, Atlantic Airways is operating scheduled flights from Vágar Airport to different countries including Denmark, UK, Spain, Norway, Greenland, Iceland and Sweden. The destinations served include Aalborg, Aarhus, Billund and Copenhagen (all in Denmark); Aberdeen, London and Sumburgh (all in UK); Barcelona (Spain); Bergen, Oslo and Stavanger (all in Norway); Narsarsuaq (Greenland); Reykjavík (Iceland); and Stockholm (Sweden). The airline owns a fleet of nine aircrafts. These include three Airbus A319, four Avro RJ85, and two British Aerospace 146.
