Great Lakes Airlines is a regional carrier based in the United States. It was founded in April 1977. It initially operated as Spirit Lake Airways, but later on it was renamed Great Lakes Airlines and is presently conducting its domestic scheduled and charter services under this brand. The airline has its headquarters in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Great Lakes Airlines, the biggest Essential Air Service provider in the country, is currently operating services to 48 destinations. These routes are being served under the Essential Air Service program. The flights to these destinations are being conducted through important hubs of Great Lakes Airlines, which include Denver International Airport, Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The airline owns a fleet of 34 aircrafts – 28 Beechcraft 1900 and six Embraer EMB120 Brasilia. Great Lakes Airlines is also acknowledged as the largest operator of the 19-seater Beechcraft 1900 in the world.
