Air Canada lowering one-way fare before Encore enters market

by Richa G 12. February 2013 09:10

Canada’s national flag carrier Air Canada has started facing the heat now with the competition becoming stiffer. The launch of rival carrier WestJet Airlines’ new Encore regional service is all set to increase the competition.

Even before Encore makes its arrival in the Canadian air travel market, Air Canada flight tickets are being lowered by about 40 percent.

The announcement by the airline has only pleased the customers as they will now be able to book cheap Air Canada flights in future.

Air Canada recently indicated that it will be lowering its one-way fare including taxes by nearly 40 percent before the arrival of Encore. The airline’s one-way ticket which was earlier available for $372 would now be able to be booked for $225.

WestJet Airlines disclosed that its new regional service Encore would begin operations in June. The airline would be launching daily flights on Fort St. John-Vancouver, Nanaimo-Calgary and Victoria-Vancouver routes. The airline will also be providing introductory fares at cheap rates on these routes.
