Spain-based Iberia Airlines is set to face a series of strikes in February and March this year. The ground workers and the flight attendants of Iberia Airlines flights said that they will take this industrial action from February 18 to 22, March 4 to 8 and March 18 to 22, 2013.
During this three week of strike the airline will operate minimal services, keeping in line with the legal prerequisites put up by the government. The union representing the ground staff and cabin crew decided in favor of this strike, as a protest against the Iberia’s plan to reconstitute its operation, in order to make its business more profitable.
The airline under its restructuring program was planning to lay off some of its staff and slash down their present wages. Both the management and the union is trying to come to a mutual agreement in this regard, however they have failed towards meeting each other’s demands.
