Malaysia Airlines to strengthen its presence in Asia

by Richa G 14. February 2013 04:40

Malaysia’s national flag carrier Malaysia Airlines recently announced it will be solidifying its presence in Asian region in 2013. The airline’s move will see more Malaysia Airlines flights taking to Asian skies and serving several destinations. The airline wants to expand its business and boost revenues.

Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, Malaysia Airline’s Group Chief Executive, said that the airline has stopped operating on unprofitable routes. He said that the airline has already suspended its flight operations on loss-making routes such as Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.

Yahya said that the airline’s operation on non-profit routes is gradually ceasing operations. The airline is replacing the non-profit routes, and has started increasing frequencies on its popular routes including Philippines and China.

He further said that Malaysia Airlines is presently being viewed as future growth hub and wants to move ahead with cautious optimism in challenging operating environment in coming years.
