UAE national flag carrier Etihad Airways and Italy’s national flag carrier Alitalia, who are currently into codeshare partnership, jointly announced that they would be increasing direct flights services between Rome and Abu Dhabi in June this year.
Both the carriers said that direct flights on Rome-Abu Dhabi route would be increased to five weekly flights from the existing four flights. The two carriers would also be expanding the codeshare destinations for their respective customers. The increase in frequencies would give options to customers to book air tickets at cheap rates.
Alitalia in a statement said that it would start operating increased frequency between Rome and Abu Dhabi effective from June 13, 2013. The airline would be operating the flights with the help of a new Airbus A330 aircraft configured with 230 seats.
Etihad Airways said that it will be extending its onward codeshare connections over Alitalia’s Rome Flumicino hub to Zurich, Vienna, Tirana, Sofia, Munich, Milan, Malta, Malaga, Madrid, Geneva, Frankfurt, Budapest, Bucharest, Belgrade, Barcelona and Athens.
